What Does 1:100 Scale Mean?
A scale ratio describes how much smaller the model is than the real vessel.
で 1:100 scale, every dimension of the model is one hundredth of the corresponding dimension of the full-size vessel.
For example, a real vessel that is 100 meters long becomes approximately 1 meter long at 1:100 scale. At 1:200 scale, the same vessel becomes approximately 50 centimeters long.

A 30-meter tug and a 300-meter container vessel at the same scale will produce dramatically different model lengths.

1:100 vs 1:200 — What Is the Difference?
Consider an example vessel with a real overall length of 200 meters.
Larger Physical Model
At 1:100, the vessel becomes approximately 2 meters long before adding the display base and protective case.
This provides substantial physical presence, but also requires significantly more display and packaging space.
More Compact Display
At 1:200, the same vessel becomes approximately 1 meter long.
This may be easier to accommodate in a corporate office, showroom or exhibition while still providing a strong overall representation.
A Larger Scale Number Produces a Smaller Model

The real vessel is divided by 50, producing a relatively large model.
1:100
The same vessel is divided by 100, making it half the length of the 1:50 version.

For example, imagine the real ship is 300 meters long but you want the finished vessel model to be approximately 120 centimeters long.
The mathematical target is approximately 1:250 scale .
The final project scale can then be reviewed against vessel complexity, desired detail and the complete display dimensions.

When several vessels will be displayed together, these two approaches produce very different results.
Same Scale
All models use the same ratio. A 300-meter ship will therefore appear physically larger than a 100-meter vessel, allowing the display to communicate true relative vessel size.

Different vessels can use different scales so their models occupy approximately similar display dimensions. This can create a more uniform corporate presentation.
